Legal Status and Affiliation

Open Christian University (OCU) is a flagship institution of Open Christian Ministries, which is a registered Christian charity in South Africa and many other countries. The university is chartered to offer religious programs that aims to foster the intergration of Christian faith into all areas of business and professional affairs. It is duly registered under the Company and Intellectual Properties Commission of South Africa and legally empowered to function under the laws of South Africa.

The Open Christian University is part of the Ballsbridge University Network, chartered in Dominica, Curacao, Delaware (USA) and many other nations. OCU collaborates with different universities in the Ballsbridge University Network to offer executive education to its students worldwide. Moreover, Open Christian University has entered into validation agreements with various state-accredited universities in many countries. Under the terms of the agreements, credits and degrees from OCU are accepted by these universities for the purpose of further studies or the award of a reciprocal degree. However, while majority of our programs are eligible for this scheme, some are excluded.

Board of Quality Standards

Open Christian University is duly accredited by the Board of Quality Standards (BQS), which is an international quality asurance regulator, member of the International Network of Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher education (INQAAHE), recognised by many governments around the world.The board measures our university management and teaching and research with some standards created by the board to accredit institutional programme worldwide .The BQS is a recognized by the EU registry, and has the objective to constantly accredit the curriculum and guarantee the credibility and quality of the curriculum/programme of academic institutions to potential employers and other institutions .

International Association of Transnational Universities

Open Christian University is accredited by the IATU (No: CABS301271223IATU), complying with all the established professional and educational standards and criteria of IATU accreditation committee concerning educational quality, institutional integrity and public accountability. The International Association of Transnational Universities (IATU) is a Worldwide Education Accrediting Network following the GAAP standards of the Boards of Quality Standards. IATU is an association of accredited and globally recognized universities with GAAP standards.

The Open Christian University is accredited by the International Accreditation Board for the Marketplace Ministry (IABMM). IABMM is an independent quality management accreditation and certification body, established to promote quality assurance in Higher education for marketplace ministry. The Council is also an international network of quality assurance and program accreditation professionals responsible for providing information, expert advice on qualifications, quality certification for the marketplace ministry.

American Association for Higher Education and Accreditation- AAHEA

Open Christian University is an Institutional Member (Reg No: 06222021-1) of the American Association for Higher Education and Accreditation- AAHEA. The American Association for Higher Education & Accreditation (Formerly AAHE) is the oldest association in the United States dedicated to the advancement of higher education. The American Association for Higher Education (AAHE) is an independent professional membership organization that promotes change and reform in higher education, fosters quality teaching and learning at the college and university level, and promotes public awareness of the value of higher education in the United States.

Association of Independent Christian Colleges & Seminaries

Open Christian University is a Certified Member of the AICCS, with certificate NO: 266I21M. The Association of Independent Christian Colleges & Seminaries is one of the largest, non-government accrediting groups in the world. AICCS is a non-profit association of independent Christian colleges and seminaries committed to academic excellence, intellectual freedom, ethical conduct, and moral integrity. AICCS was chartered as a charitable corporation in the State of Missouri to help establish, support, maintain, and promote the development of non-traditional, modular, and private tutoring/mentoring methods on-campus, and audio/video-taped, online, and other distance learning methods off-campus.
